Internal verifier qualifications are not always the best option for every organisation.

We can offer three alternative options which are available as training workshops or through PLUS, our online and blended learning portal. In this leaflet, we focus on how we provide these options using PLUS as a completely online or a blended learning solution.

All options include the following:

• The internal verifier training options enable you to train your verifiers on how to effectively maintain the quality of your assessment process
• Your verifiers will learn what is expected from them as verifiers, the key steps of the verification process and the key skills they need in order to be effective verifiers
• Your assessment paperwork and assessment processes can be built in so that the verifiers have a better understanding of how to verify completed assessments in their workplace

Training only
Training only can be the best option for some organisations. The main limitations with this option are that firstly, we are not able to check each verifier’s understanding and knowledge beyond what we can see through the training.
Secondly, the verifiers are not supported as they transfer their knowledge back to the workplace in their role as internal verifiers.

Training with Knowledge Assignment
The knowledge assignment enables you to check the internal verifiers have understood the main principles of verification.
This option enables us to check each verifier’s understanding of the key elements of the training.

Training with Practical Assignment – Certificate of Competence
This option can be very useful where the internal verifier qualification option (SQA L&D11) may not be appropriate but your organisation wants to achieve some form of certification for your verifiers.
In addition to proving certification, this option also provides a very useful feedback loop for people who are new to verification and will help to identify where they are meeting the requirements of this role as well as any ongoing development requirements.
