Assessor Training with Practical Assessment:
Certificate of Competence
Certificate of Competence
The training with practical assessment (certificate of competence) option allows your assessors and verifiers to receive the relevant training to work as assessors or verifiers, but instead of a full qualification, they complete a short practical assessment in the workplace.
A qualification is not always suitable or required and it of course involves more time and therefore more cost. The training with practical assessment option allows your assessors to receive the relevant training to work as assessors, but instead of a full qualification, they complete a short practical assessment in the workplace.
This provides a useful feedback loop for people who are new to the assessor role and it helps Polaris Learning to identify where individuals are meeting the requirements of their role as well as any ongoing development requirements.
If you currently cannot go to your workplace, then you can complete the online learning and you may be able to complete the assessments remotely or you can complete the assessments once you are able to be back in the workplace.
We can build in your assessment paperwork and assessment process into the online learning so that assessors leave with a better understanding of their role.
This involves the provision of an online training process which includes the completion of a formal knowledge-based assignment and practical assessment back in the workplace which is reviewed by a Polaris Learning Consultant.
The online modules are:
- Module 1: Introduction to Assessment
- Module 2: Planning and Assessing Competence
- Module 3: Providing Feedback
- Module 4: Assessor Assignment
On completion of this, a Polaris Learning Certificate of Competence is awarded.
CASE STUDIES
Working together since 2009, we have provided accredited assessor training to support OneSubsea’s competency management system. We have also provided an accredited internal verifier programme to the organisation’s internal verifiers. The competency management system gained accreditation with OPITO in 2011. Other services include appraisal training and coaching and mentoring training for senior individuals supporting apprentices.
Accreditation of the training team is critical to the success of Falck Safety Services. We have worked with Falck Safety Services since 2000 to develop and qualify the skills of their instructors through an integrated programme leading to nationally accredited qualifications in training delivery, assessment and internal verification.
