City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
INTRODUCTION TO THE QUALIFICATION
This City & Guilds (C & G) qualification is suitable for people who assess competence in a work environment. This is an alternative qualification to the SQA L&D9DI Assess workplace competence using direct and indirect methods.
To achieve the qualification, your organisation will need to use observation, questioning and work product as part of your methods of assessment.
We take your assessors through the process of assessing helping them to understand what is expected of them as assessors, the process of assessment and the different assessment methods. We can build in your paper work and process, and where this is possible, this is the best way to help your assessors apply what they have learnt when they return to the workplace.
As this is a vocational qualification, your assessors will need to have opportunity in the workplace to assess at least two candidates, and to assess each candidate on two different activities on two different occasions.
There are a number of other qualification requirements, including involvement in a standardisation meeting, that have to be met and we can talk you through this.
We can deliver this training at your site, at our premises or online via our online and blended learning portal PLUS.
However, City & Guilds requires that we observe in person your assessors on all aspects of the assessment process (so planning the assessment, gathering and judging evidence and giving feedback). This therefore means that we will need to come to your site in order to complete this part of the qualification, even if you complete the training online.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT DELIVERY METHOD FOR YOUR LEARNERS
TRAINING WORKSHOP
Focusing on the workshop approach, this training would generally be carried out in a two day workshop.
In this workshop we cover:
- Introduction to Competence
- Organising and Preparing
- Carry Out Assessments
- Discussion and Questioning
- Judging and Recording Evidence
- Providing Feedback
- Quality Assurance
Once your assessors complete the training workshops, they are then required to work through the rest of the qualification back at their workplace. Your assessors are supported throughout by a Polaris Learning consultant.
On successful completion of the qualification a City & Guilds certificate is awarded.
