2018 – The Year So Far; It Is Proving to be Interesting
2018 is proving to be another busy year with over £200,000 of new business so far across our competency management system services, leadership development programmes, training and qualifications for assessors and verifiers, train the trainers for trainers and managers, and developing online learning materials and short training videos for our clients.
We have not included in this figure our contract to deliver Modern Apprenticeship qualifications on behalf of Skills Development Scotland. This continues to go from strength to strength with another contract of to deliver over 400 apprenticeships for our clients. We are delighted to be able to continue to support clients working across Scotland.
In addition, we are starting to help food and drink businesses who need to align their English approach to apprenticeships with their Scottish approach, as they draw down on the apprenticeship levy, and work out how to deliver unified and consistent programmes across the UK.
All of our team are pleased to continue to win business in a range of industries including oil and gas, food and drink manufacturing, renewables, third sector, engineering, professional services, local councils and utilities. Last year saw us increase our work in the construction industry with a focus on how we can help this industry to build on the training, development and competence of all its staff, including contractors.
Things are moving fast in all these industries and as a result, clients are looking for new ways to achieve their learning and development goals or to implement or streamline their competency management systems while making the most of their budgets and of course, everyone’s time.
It has been interesting to see how online learning and blended learning has evolved since we launched PLUS in 2015. We never anticipated the scale of demand globally and we keep receiving great feedback from happy learners. It makes everyone’s job easier!
Our leadership development programmes are particularly popular and we repeatedly see the commitment of our clients to giving their supervisors, managers and future leaders the skills that they need to help their teams succeed.
At the same time, training assessors and verifiers continues to be a focus for clients, with many still choosing qualifications from SQA and City & Guilds, while others have decided to take a different approach using our Certificate of Competence options or in some cases a training video with a knowledge test.
We have put together a short video of what we have been up to with some happy clients and learners. We have also included a second video which we put together to celebrate Modern Apprenticeship Week last week.
We hope you enjoy them.
